Abcarian: That foul stench out of Santa Monica? A local weekly spreading malicious lies about Paul Pelosi.
Let’s try again. In your view, does it really make sense that the Democratic Party, which has such problems, would be drawn to the right?
My view is that Pelosi is the most liberal Democrat in congress. She’s a real democrat in the sense that she’s a very good democrat. She has many liberal friends, but she is a real democrat in the sense that she’s not a member of the New Democrat Party. She doesn’t agree with the New Democrat Party on everything. And some of the liberals that are in congress would probably agree with her on very few things.
They agree with her on certain things, like how to get women into the workplace. They agree on the fact that we need a lot of money for social programs, but those programs should also be paid for out of tax revenues. But on things like abortion, homosexuality, and abortion for the rich, the government has no business deciding what we do as citizens.
I believe the New Democrat Party is a kind of neo-fascist party. I believe the New Democrat Party was formed from the ideas of Huey Long and the American Nazi Party. It was a movement designed to replace the New Deal with a kind of Mussolini economic program, and it has failed because, like the New Deal, it doesn’t work.
The New Deal had very positive effects and, even if we tried to roll it back, it was a very good piece of legislation. But it was not like the New Deal. It was not like a good, old Democratic-Socialist Deal. It was a more or less fascist kind of socialism. And I have no particular problem with socialism. I don’t think socialism is necessarily a bad thing. But the New Deal was good because we learned from it. We didn’t want to duplicate the mistakes of the New Deal. This is not to say that the New Deal was a mistake, but we learned from it. But since then, the United States has been a big country. We have lots of
