It was quite the American Music Awards debut for Bea Miller. The singer’s first nomination was a surprise win, as Miller lost out on the Best Pop Vocal Album award to the “I Told You So” singer for her “Ain’t No Sunshine”, but she earned herself a nomination at the category itself.
The Grammys have already had a few notable firsts this year, but Miller received eight nominations for the prestigious award, including two as a solo artist and one as a member of Little Mix and The Saturdays. The rest of this year’s nominees are: Best New Artist, Best Pop, Rock, and Solo Pop Artist.
“It was an honour to be nominated for the first time at the awards. It’s an amazing feeling,” Miller told WENN on Wednesday before her awards show acceptance speech.
The night went by quickly with Miller winning the award for Best Solo Pop Artist. It was another first that wasn’t anticipated, but it was still quite the show.
“It was such a thrill to get the awards. It was such a thrill to get up on that stage,” Miller said.
Miller also sang her acceptance vocals as a member of Little Mix on their version of “I Told You So”. She will be performing with her band at the awards show.
“I can’t wait to get out there. I’m so excited to sing in front of all those people,” Miller said.
“In the past, I would perform at the Grammys and I would be up there and say ‘I’m here to steal the show, I’m here to steal the show’ and people would be like ‘Are you kidding me?!’ I’ve been performing since I was a little girl. I’m so excited to perform with my band on stage and take this moment,” she added about her upcoming performance.
